Asthma, Acupuncture and Food Testing
October 13, 2020
Autumn has arrived and in many parts of the country the trees are changing colors.  In Florida, we drop to the 80’s and enjoy cooler weather.  It is one of my favorite times of year but many patients with asthma often have an exacerbation of their symptoms during this time of year.

For some, it is related to environmental allergens with the change of season and for others there is a food sensitivity that makes their symptoms worse.  Dairy is the most common culprit which produces excess phlegm and for those who are interested we do testing to identify any food sensitivities.  When the results come back four weeks later, we have patients avoid any strong reactors and most experience significant relief.

When foods are not triggers patients find relief with supplements or herbals.  The most common recommended supplements are Vitamin C with flavonoids and most herbals have Huang Qi also known as Astragalus as the primary ingredient.

When dietary changes, environmental avoidance, nutrients, herbals, and medications are not enough many patients turn to a non-toxic and extremely effective therapy called Acupuncture for relief of symptoms related to Asthma.  Treatments provide significant relief and with regular treatment we are often able to minimize any future attacks, even at this time of year when upper respiratory viruses are a plenty.

If you or a loved one struggle with their asthma this time of year, please reach out to our office with natural and effective therapies.
