Chiropractors Can Heal Fibromyalgia? Yes, They Can!

By: Steven D'Antonio- Wednesday, March 23, 2016

A chiropractor in Orlando can realign your joints through adjustment and physical manipulation, giving you back optimum body function. Our chiropractic team uses natural healing approaches, because prescription drugs or other medical substances are generally only a quick fix; they do not fix the underlying problem. Once your joints are realigned, your nerves, organs and muscles can receive the signals they need to function at their optimum level. Spinal adjustment, or spinal manipulation, is the method by which chiropractors can maneuver tissues and create realignment. Although their techniques can move joints past their typical range of motion, they do not damage or dislocate them. Years of education, practice and experience allow chiropractors to provide this specialized care.

Although neck or back pain can be great reasons to visit the chiropractor, practitioners can help heal many more significant problems, such as headaches, fibromyalgia, insomnia and more. If going to the chiropractor is a new experience for you, we can help answer all the questions you’ve been curious about, and show you first-hand how the process works. We will get to know you, your history, your current conditions and your goals for the future. Just like any other visit to the doctor, we give you the opportunity to fill out some paperwork about your conditions, familiarize yourself with the doctor, verbalize your concerns and expectations, and have an x-ray and physical examination in order to allow the doctor to take a closer look. Together, you and the doctor can analyze the results and come up with a plan for positive change in your health.

By removing structural and postural imbalances, we can help your body heal itself. The network of nerves in your body can then send signals from your brain and through your spinal cord, flowing freely without interruptions. Have you been in a car accident? Do you play sports? Or have you experienced a fall? All of these circumstances and many more can result in misalignments in your joints. Chemical causes, such as smoking, drinking and even poor dietary choices can also cause misalignment through underlying conditions or diseases. A chiropractor will put you back on track, structurally and chemically. A subluxation, or misalignment of vertebra, can be caused by even the most minor physical traumas, such as a small bump. During subluxation, pressure is placed on the nerves and blood vessels, preventing normal functioning from occurring. As this continues, the spine and discs can start to degenerate. Degeneration of the spine and discs is difficult to treat as time goes on, due to adjustment of the surrounding muscles and bones. This will make it extremely challenging to reverse, preventing you from regaining perfect positioning.  To maintain the optimum positioning of the spine outside of treatments, chiropractors encourage their patients to maintain good posture, with the chin up and the shoulders straight. Frequent stretching and a suitable chair, if sitting for long periods of time can also help. Bending at the knees instead of the back when lifting objects, warming up before strenuous activities and sleeping in supportive positions are also recommended.

If you’re tired of living with pain or discomfort, a chiropractor can help. Our chiropractic team at Whole Family Healthcare will identify and treat the cause of your problems at the root. We use natural systems of symptom management, with safe and effective methods to minimize side effects. By focusing on prevention and education, our practitioners can provide a roadmap for you, so that your overall health can improve. We encourage whole treatment of your body, mind and spirit, because we know that every part of you plays a role in your health. Each aspect of your life is connected, which is why we treat our patients holistically. Although there are misconceptions surrounding chiropractic practices, you shouldn’t let misinformation stop you from pursuing the help and pain relief that you need. If your joints are misaligned, important signals from your brain are being stopped before they are able to make it to organs, nerves, muscles, and more. With adjustments from an expert chiropractor, your optimum level of health can be restored. Chiropractics can be safely practiced on both children and adults, providing treatment for a range of medical conditions. Neck and back pain are just the tip of the iceberg; chiropractors can heal a wide variety of root causes of pain, ill health and overall or acute discomfort!

Our comprehensive pharmacy is something we’re extremely proud of, because it sets us apart from other healthcare providers, and allows us to align our practice with our six core principles: The first is to identify and treat the root cause. By doing this, our team can help you achieve lasting results without harmful side effects. Although we do strive to help patients manage symptoms and achieve relief from pain and distress, we know that digging deeper to the root of the issue is the only way to ensure that it will be completely resolved. The second is one of the most important core principles we follow, do no harm. This emphasizes treatment of ailments without side harmful side effects or the use of toxic chemicals that may cause more harm. This principle also includes emotional harm, so we even make sure to provide the most comfortable, friendly, warm environment possible for patients, without pressure or fear. The third core principle is prevention. Prevention is the best way to ensure good health for our patients, and is a collaborative effort between you and us. Prevention starts at home, but we can help with a focus on healthy diet, reduction of stress, optimization of nutrients and hormones, detoxification, and lab testing. The next core principle is education. As a principle tied closely with prevention, education allows us to help our patients remain well-versed on prevention and treatment of ailments, and management of their healthcare. Our team will ensure all patients are well educated, and can ask any questions they may have. The next core principle is to treat the whole person. The body has the inherent ability to heal itself, and does so by working together with the mind, spirit, and nature. By paying attention to each of these areas in treatment, we allow the body to carry out its natural healing process. Last but not least, by focusing on the foundations of health, we can bring balance to the whole person. We emphasize diet, stress, exercise, sleep, and hormonal balance.

DNA Testing

By: Steven D'Antonio- Monday, December 14, 2015

With all of the unique physical and emotional qualities, thoughts and behaviors that can vary from person to person, it’s not surprising that DNA has been extremely complicated to understand and study in the past. Research in the field of science and medicine has centered around genetics for centuries, with knowledge growing more and more expansive over time. In order to access and study DNA, the development of DNA testing in Orlando has been crucial in the field of science. In a medical setting, DNA testing can be used to identify genetic information with just one simple test. Utilization of salivary samples is an effective, easy way to get insight into the state of your health, and even the future of your health potential.

The Human Genome Project was completed in 2003. A decade later, we are making huge advancements in the field of science and medicine that can contribute to great healthcare options, and personalized treatments. The human body has around 50 trillion cells, and each containing an entire set of instructions on how to do their jobs. These instructions are present in a twisted, ladder shape as molecules called DNA. DNA in cells are organized into chromosomes. Human beings have twenty-three sets of chromosomes, which make up our genes. Genes instruct cells on how to function, which leads to expression of certain traits, creation of proteins, enzymes, and more. As a body grows and develops, it makes more cells. When cells divide, they copy their DNA for the new cell. However, cells sometimes make mistakes during the copying process. These mistakes, or SNPs, are inherited from our parents and can be tested for. They cause differences in physical traits, vulnerability leading to development of disease, or responses to some medications.

What Chelation IV Therapies Can Do for You or A Loved One

By: Steven D'Antonio- Sunday, December 06, 2015

If you or a loved one has heart, cerebrovascular, or peripheral disease, chelation IV therapy can eliminate the need for risky procedures like open-heart surgery and amputation, or dangerous drugs. Chelation IV therapy is a safe, reliable, non-surgical method for slowing, preventing, and sometimes reversing blockages that occur in arteries. When used in conjunction with a change in lifestyle and diet, chelation is extremely effective.

In the medical context, chelation is a procedure that involves heavy metal detoxification led by an experienced, qualified physician. To put it simply, chelation is the process of removing lead, mercury, cadmium and even toxic accumulations of iron and copper from the body. Chelation can positively affect tissue, arteries and even organs. This practice can lead to enhanced vascular health and circulation to the brain and heart. It can even be effective for patients who have a hardened, plaque-ridden artery.

Over the last 35 years, treatment of vascular disease has been the primary clinical use of IV EDTA chelation. Since IV chelation can even improve circulation at a foundational level, it has been shown through research and clinical experience to benefit a wide range of diseases, including brain and kidney dysfunction, heart fatigue, macular degeneration, erectile dysfunction, arthritis, diabetic ulcers and more.

Chiropractors in Orlando

By: Steven D'Antonio- Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Chiropractic adjustments can fix the structural problems that are causing physical pain. When the joints of the spine are realigned through chiropractic manipulation, your body can return to its normal functioning without medications. Chiropractics also focuses on the concept that the body is inherently self-healing. When misalignments occur in the joints of the spine, messages that need to be sent to different areas of the body through blood vessels and nerves are blocked, and cannot reach their destinations. Medications and drugs cannot solve this problem. Chiropractors in Orlando are qualified and experienced professionals, using physical manipulation techniques to remove misalignments caused by car accidents, bumps, slips, falls, or other injuries. They encourage patients to be mindful of their posture, both when standing and sitting, as well as encourage frequent stretching during activity, and to use proper technique when lifting heavy objects. A chiropractor can use special techniques to move joints past their normal range of motion, without dislocating or damaging them. They can do so much more than what meets the eye. If you have back pain, insomnia, a cold, or almost any other ailment, a chiropractor can help.

Queen Elizabeth's Doctor is a Homeopathic Physician

By: Steven D'Antonio- Wednesday, November 04, 2015

Homeopathy is a system of alternative, natural medicine, which is based on the Law of Similars, the ideal of “like cures like.” Homeopathic medicines have virtually no side effects, and can provide excellent relief for a wide variety of ailments. They do not cause the same allergic reactions or adverse effects as harsh, conventional medicines. Homeopathy uses very small doses of remedies found in nature, but it is not the same as herbal medicine. Where herbal medicine utilizes tinctures, homeopathy utilizes micro-doses of heavily diluted plants, minerals, and other natural substances. The efficacy of homeopathy’s Law of Similars lies in the concept that a medicine will cure sickness if it can cause a similar sickness in a healthy person. For example, a person’s eyes will burn, water, and itch if he/she peels an onion. These symptoms are similar to those experienced during an allergy or a cold. Therefore, a homeopathic micro-dose of red onion (known as Allium Cepa) can help your body heal itself.

Most integrative practitioners recommend pediatrics in the form of those that can be orally ingested, injected, or topically applied. These are safe for patients of all ages. Homeopathy can aid in the relief of headaches, fibromyalgia, migraines, back pain, neck pain, knee or ankle injuries, shoulder pain, TMJ, sciatics, trigeminal neuralgia, sports injuries, neuropathy, sprains or strains of muscles, carpal tunnel syndrome, postoperative pain and rehabilitation, tennis and golfer’s elbow, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, and more. Don’t depend on one-size-fits-all conventional medicines to help you heal. Integrative pain management plans are personalized for your lifestyle, medical history, current health state, and desired results. Whether you have pain resulting from physical trauma or illness, integrative medicine can help.

IV Therapy is Helpful for Patients Dealing with Cancer

By: Steven D'Antonio- Saturday, October 31, 2015

Athletes are great candidates for IV nutritional therapy. When athletes train, they burn through specific nutrients much faster than the average person. These deficiencies can be tested, identified, and supplemented with IV nutritional therapy. When treated this way, athletes boast better concentration, energy and ability. However, this treatment can help anyone strengthen his or her immune system function. For improving immune function and replacing lost nutrients in patients with cancer, intravenous Glutathione combined with B-complexes, trace minerals, and vitamins, such as C and B-12, can help. Patients who have undergone this form of therapy report a much higher quality of life, and greater feelings of energy. Glutathione has powerful properties that protect organs and boost immune function. Glutathione can help patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, and aids them in tolerating these harsh treatments. IV therapy complements conventional treatment, enhancing results, and amplifying positive aspects of treatment. Because cancer patients tend to be deficient in many essential nutrients, their bodily detoxification systems have a difficult time moderating the plethora of toxins and medications flooding their bodies. The lack of absorption efficacy through oral application, lowered ability of the intestines to absorb those nutrients, and genetic blocks to the metabolic system prevent patients from receiving the nutrients they need.

Seeking to Gain an Edge in Your Athletic Performance?

By: Steven D'Antonio- Thursday, October 22, 2015

At Whole Family Healthcare, we can help athletes reach their peak physical goals without any caffeine for supplemental energy. Through nutrient testing, we can test for nutrient deficiencies in the body, and identify which deficiencies will not be able to recover over time to prevent injury and permanent damage. Once identified, we prepare an appropriate dosage for the athlete to consume. High dosages of vitamin C, when appropriate, can remove heavy metals from the body. These metals include lead, mercury, cadmium, tin, and aluminum. Once the metals are removed from the body, nitric oxide production improves, resulting in overall better arterial system health. Athletes treated with our nutrient system report higher levels of energy, endurance and ability. For sport injuries, we offer acupuncture, chiropractics, and massage therapy. Acupuncture helps the body restore its natural balance of energy, allowing it to heal itself in cases of arthritis, muscle pain, sprains, and more. Chiropractic medicine involves removing structural and postural imbalances to allow signals to travel through the spinal cord uninterrupted. This also helps the body heal itself in the case of a misalignment or injury. Our massage therapy can be utilized before, during, and after games or competitions. Massages prepare athletes for performance, drains fatigue, relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension, and promotes flexibility. Not only does it relieve injury pain, it also prevents injuries from occurring. The Whole Family Healthcare team works together as a collaborative unit to provide athletes with the care and treatment they need to succeed. From Orlando sports nutrition to injury relief, we strive to work with the body’s demands, reduce physical and mental stress, and help athletes meet their optimal level of performance. Our results are unmatched, and our team is dedicated to making sure all patients are comfortable, informed, and have their expectations exceeded.

The Different Forms of Bio-identical Testosterone Supplements for Men

By: Steven D'Antonio- Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Are you a man experiencing low sex drive, decreased muscle mass, fatigue, erectile dysfunction, hair loss, depression, difficulty concentrating, irritability, or low sense of well-being? You may have low testosterone levels. If you are showing the symptoms of low testosterone, and test results indicate that this is the case, a doctor may suggest treatment options. For the millions of men across the world who have low testosterone levels without any symptoms, there is no recommended treatment. Bio-identical testosterone supplements come in multiple forms, and can be determined by the doctor in collaboration with the patient based on personal preference, medical history, current health, lifestyle, and more. Forms include transdermal, gels, mouth patches, injections, and implants. The transdermal skin patch, known as Androderm, is worn on the arm or upper body and is applied once per day. Gels, such as Testim and Androgel, are packets, while Axiron and Fortesta come in pump form. The gels are absorbed through the skin when applied once daily. Natesto is a gel that is applied into the nose. The mouth patch, Striant, is stuck to the upper gums twice daily. It is a continuous release tablet, with testosterone absorbing into the blood from the oral tissue. Injections and implants are inserted into muscle or soft tissue, and are slowly absorbed through to the bloodstream. Oral testosterone is also available, but has been known to cause damage to the liver. With the other methods, the testosterone can bypass the liver and absorb directly into the bloodstream. The term bio-identical indicates that the molecular structure of the testosterone is identical to that of naturally occurring testosterone in the body. Because of this, it is recognized by the body’s tissues, and won’t have adverse side effects.
